Sound, Mantra & Meditation

B:W Mantra

Everything in the Universe is in a constant state of motion. Wherever there is vibration there is sound, even if it is inaudible to the human ear. Our body is in a constant state of vibration, each organ, bone, cell and structure oscillating at a specific vibrational frequency.  In good health our body vibrates at the correct frequencies and is considered to be in harmony and balanced.  When part of our body is out of harmony, discordant in rhythm or frequency, then a different vibrational sound pattern is established, which is perceived as being dis-eased. By projecting sound into the dis-eased area the correct frequency can be restored, returning to optimal vibrational balance, harmony and good health.

When we use our voice to make any sound it creates it’s own unique internal movement within the body. As sound waves travel through the channels and meridians they send information to the body's tissue and organs. The organised vibrations of different sounds can co-ordinate the direction of internal cellular vibration and act like an internal massage. This cleanses and heals body tissues and organs by driving out negative factors and releasing tension.

The Healing process is always most effective when we are an active and responsible participant involved in our own healing. The ancient Chinese knew about the curative powers of sound and developed techniques to use the vibrations of the human voice for self- treatment, known as Sound Daoyin.  As sound and breathing are inseparable the exercises allow us to understand the role of breathing force within the body. From professional singers to people who would simply like to ‘find’ their voice, everyone can benefit from this workshop.

This unique one day workshop combines the Vibration, Sound and Mantra Teachings from the Taijiquan and Buddhist Lama lineage of Dr. Shen Hongxun and will cover the practice and use of these Healing Sounds together with Mantra (sacred utterings, instruments of divine thought) from the Chan Buddhist Tradition. These fascinating exercises are great fun to do, applying Sound and Breath Movement in a variety of ways that allow us to discover and release previously unheard of potential in voice and body, showing us how to to improve the range and quality of our voices while developing health giving Taiji Force.
